Birmingham Airport is the air gateway to Birmingham and the West Midlands region in England. It is the seventh busiest airport in the United Kingdom.

Birmingham made a strong bid for large expansion during the period of the Airports Commission's investigation into airport capacity in the UK and subsequent to a UK government decision to support a third runway at London Heathrow in Jan-2025 can be expected to make a case again as the city, including the airport, will be connected to the capital by High Speed Rail, possibly by 2023.
