WestJet plans to introduce five new destinations and several new routes across Latin America and the Caribbean during the 2025-26 winter season, as well as enhancing international connectivity through its Calgary hub.

The carrier will serve a total of 305 routes and 62 sun destinations during the upcoming winter season, with departures set to rise by 3% year over year. Overall capacity will remain flat, as aircraft inherited from Sunwing and Swoop are reconfigured to meet WestJet’s standard layout.

New destinations added to the network include Panama City, Panama; Guadalajara and Riviera Nayarit in Mexico; Havana, Cuba; and Managua, Nicaragua. WestJet is also adding seasonal routes to Liberia in Costa Rica as well as Puerto Plata and Samana in the Dominican Republic, while operating Mexico City year-round for the first time.

In addition to its sun expansion, WestJet is growing its transpacific presence by increasing flights between Calgary and Tokyo Narita from three times per week to daily service, contributing to an 18% year-over-year increase in intercontinental capacity.

Among the new seasonal routes: Calgary–Panama City will launch Dec. 13 with 4X-weekly flights; Calgary–Guadalajara begins Dec. 7 with 2X-weekly service; and Riviera Nayarit enters the network with 1X-weekly flights from Calgary starting Dec. 13. Toronto–Havana and Montreal–Managua will each operate twice and once per week, respectively, beginning Dec. 18.

Other new routes include Calgary to Cozumel and Puerto Plata, Vancouver to Liberia, and Winnipeg to Liberia. Quebec City will gain service to Montego Bay and San Andres, while Thunder Bay will be linked to Punta Cana.

The airline says it will increase seat capacity across the Latin America and Caribbean region by 6% compared to last winter. Cargo services will also expand as a result of the new routes, with WestJet citing strong demand in sectors like perishables and automotive goods.

The carrier plans more than 4,300 weekly departures to 106 destinations at peak winter.
