Francois Bastin, Safran Landing Systems CEO, and Oliver Legrand, Revima Group president and CEO, sign landing gear contract.
Safran Landing Systems and Revima’s extension of their aftermarket services and support partnership for landing gear support moves the independent MRO into the next generation of Airbus aircraft.
The agreement extends the business relationship between the companies for “many years” and enables Revima to provide MRO services for Airbus A320neo, A330neo and A350-900 programs, which “prepares Revima for the future as legacy platforms progressively retire,” Revima President and CEO Olivier Legrand said.
The companies signed the long-term agreement on June 18 at the Paris Air Show but did not communicate the value of the contract.
Because next-gen landing gears use corrosion-resistant steels and high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) coatings designed to meet environmental requirements and be more durable, Revima will be further investing in HVOF technology. The company started investing in that technology when it added Boeing 787 landing gear MRO capability.
By aligning with Safran, Revima gains a competitive advantage because the agreement includes “all aspects necessary to properly support customers: spares, technical support, repair engineering, supply chain, manuals and more generally, how we work together with Safran on improving the overall services to our customers,” Legrand says.
Because of Safran’s large landing gear customer base, “Revima’s landing gear activity on Safran products is significant,” he says.
Revima, which also provides auxiliary power unit (APU) MRO in France and Thailand, aspires to open new repair facilities in the U.S. and “probably” in the Middle East to keep up with its growth.
Legrand expects 787 landing MRO demand alone to increase 70% over the next five years.
