The HC-144A Ocean Sentry is a United States Coast Guard search and rescue aircraft that is based on the CN-235 transport aircraft, developed by the Spanish aerospace company CASA, and Indonesian aerospace company IPTN. The Ocean Sentry is manufactured by Airbus Military.

The HC-144A turboprop will give the US Coast Guard over double the endurance of the jet aircraft it is replacing. Unique to the Ocean Sentry is a wheeled pallet containing a host of avionics equipment that can be easily loaded into its fuselage. It is designated MSP for Mission System Pallet. The pallet equipment gathers data from numerous sources, including on-board sensors and orbiting satellites, and utilizes the data to provide real time mission responsiveness.

Standard equipment of the HC-144A includes infra-red optics, search radar, and directional tracking electronics. All communications systems of the Ocean Sentry are fully integrated with current U.S. Coast Guard equipment.

In addition to search and rescue, the HC-144A will be used for maritime patrol, intelligence gathering, observation, and as a transport.

The USCG projects that it will eventually purchase 36 HC-144A Ocean Sentry's. They will primarily be replacing its HU-25 Falcon jet. To date the Coast Guard has taken delivery of 13 of the new aircraft.
