From The Archives: New Era Opening In Aircraft Design

On page 249 of the June 22, 1970 issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology, we published a feature about a new era of aircraft design by Charles E. Schneider.
He reports on advances in aerodynamics, materials, methods of production expected to spur significant changes in business airplanes in the next 15 years.
Current aircraft are stretched improved versions of 25-30 year old aircraft designs. Customer demands for additional performance, utility and efficiency, he says, will force manufacturers to develop something new.
