From The Archives: Cessna Aircraft Caravan 1

Aug 26 1985

Cessna Aircraft has delivered approximately 30 of its single-turboprop Caravan 1s since receiving certification for the utility aircraft in October 1984.

The first prototype of the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-114 powered aircraft flew in December, 1982.

The base price of the Caravan 1 is $595,000, but a well-equipped aircraft will retail for $720,000.

The aircraft manufacturer based in Wichita, holds a one-year backlog on the Caravan 1, with 10 of the 30 aircraft ordered by Federal Express already delivered.

Cessna is planning on a five-monthly production rate this year.
