Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut 5th generation plus fighters will make all current fighter aircraft obsolete within 10 years according to Sukhoi.
The unique Sukhoi Su-47 is expected to demonstrate extreme agility along short trajectories, and perform maneuvers of over a ninety degree angle of attack. In addition the Sukhoi Su-47 will employ stealth technology and have super cruise ability. The multi-purpose Sukhoi Su-47 aircraft will have BVR, attack, interceptor, and long range tactical abilities.
The FSW demonstration version of the Sukhoi Su-47 aircraft has been flying since Sept. 25, 1997. Many compare the agile flight performance of Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut with that of the American F-22.
India and Sukhoi are already laying the groundwork to have the IAF equipped with Sukhoi Su-47 front-line fighters by the year 2020. In an Oct. 18th interview, Russia's president Putin announced that an advanced Sukhoi Su-47 type prototype incorporating 5th generation technology would take to the skies by mid 2009. Production aircraft would start being built within a year after.
While it appears that the FSW (forward swept wing) Sukhoi Su-47 will not be produced in its current form, Sukhoi says that the design of the aircraft facilitates the development of derivatives that will meet the demands for 5th generation plus fighters.
If American aircraft are an example of the cost of such a development program, production beyond the prototype phase of the Sukhoi Su-47 program should cost approximately US$ 5.0 billion. It is anticipated that the super cruise, AL-37-FU thrust vectoring engine, the most expensive component of the Sukhoi Su-47, will cost approximately $750 million alone to develop.
Considering the costs involved, the final Sukhoi Su-47aircraft may involve a combined venture of China, India and Russia. India would prefer to have a licensing agreement for the manufacture of the Sukhoi Su-47 aircraft in its own country. Other partners that India is considering for 5th generation plus Sukhoi Su-47 aircraft development are Brazil or the European Union.
India anticipates that its primary technological contribution in the development of the Sukhoi Su-47 program will be avionics. HAL is already developing advanced automated long range fire control and ECM systems that will be fitted to the Sukhoi Su-47 aircraft.

Radio Control Airplanes:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Pictured above and in the first picture below are RC Sukhoi Su-47 airplanes from Park Jets plans. The radio control airplane pictured above is powered by a pusher prop driven by an Axi 2212/20 motor.
The rc Sukhoi Su-47 airplane in the first picture below is driven by a Hyperion X-22 motor powering a GWS EDF unit.
Both Sukhoi Su-47 radio control airplanes have a wing span of 31.5" and a length of 40.5". The RC Sukhoi Su-47 airplanes are built by Rane of RC Groups.
The second picture below is of the Sukhoi Su-47 radio control airplane scratch built by Bob Shepherd of Ontario, California. The rc Sukhoi Su-47 airplane is 70" long and has a wing span of 46". Power for the Sukhoi Su-47 radio control airplane is by a single AMT AT-180 turbine engine. All up weight of Shepherd's RC Sukhoi Su-47 airplane is about 14 lbs.
There have been a number of posts for FSW type radio control airplanes in RC Groups and RC Universe. These radio control airplanes appear to be growing in popularity.
