Formed in 1985, the Patrulla Aguila Spanish Air Force aerobatic team is known for their formation landings and for yellow smoke included in their displays. The team is based at San Javier Air Base in Spain.
They fly seven CASA C-101 Aviojet aircraft. For CASA C-101 information and specifications, click here.
The team continues the tradition of Spanish aerobatic teams founded in the early 1950's.
It is made up of unpaid volunteers. The pilots are instructors from the Spanish Air Force.
Each year the team assembles in February to begin training for another season. Their exhibitions start in April and continue through October.
Each Patrulla Aguila flight demonstration is approximately half of an hour long, with the aircraft flying in formation at low and medium altitudes.
To date the Patrulla Aguila have performed in over 300 flight demonstrations and accumulated over 17,000 flight hours on their aircraft.
