Mikoyan MiG-21 aircraft are the world's most produced jet fighters, with over 10,350 Mikoyan MiG-21 aircraft of all types built.
The
origins of the Mikoyan MiG-21 can be traced back to the experiences of Russian
jet aircraft over Korea. Although maneuverability was still an
important attribute in a fighter aircraft, so was the need for speed
and climb performance. With that in mind, engineers designed the Mikoyan MiG-21 to fly at almost 1,400 MPH and climb at 58,000 feet per minute.
The greatest shortcoming of the first Mikoyan MiG-21 aircraft were their relatively short range. The Mikoyan MiG-21 model F added a 108 gallon centerline drop tank in recognition of the problem. Other upgrades to the Mikoyan MiG-21 included a redesigned forward
fuselage to accommodate more powerful radars and a more efficient and
powerful engine.
The Mikoyan MiG-21 soon became a pilot favorite. It was exported to Soviet allies throughout the world.
Czechoslovakia
and India produced the Mikoyan MiG-21 under a license agreement with the Soviet
Union. China reverse engineered a copy of the Mikoyan MiG-21 that they manufactured as the
Chengdu J-7.
Mikoyan MiG-21 aircraft have had a long service career and are still being flown by a number of nations around the world.

Airplanes:
Pictured
above is the RC Mikoyan MiG-21 airplane from RC International. The radio control airplane is 1/5 scale with a wing span of 56" and a length of 111.5". Construction of the rc airplane is fiberglass throughout. You can power the radio control airplane with Jet Cat P-120 or P-160 turbines. The completed radio control airplane will weigh 30 lbs. and up.
The first picture below is of a RC MiG-21 airplane built from Parkjets plans. The radio control airplane has a wing span of 27" and a length of 51". Powering the rc airplane is a BM-2409-12 motor driving an 8 x 6 pusher propeller. As equipped, the radio control airplane weighs 23 oz.
The second picture below is of the VMAR Mikoyan MiG-21 RC Airplane. Wing span of the radio control airplane is 57" and length is 67". Construction materials used in the RC Airplane are balsa and light ply. The radio control airplane is pulled by from a .60 to .91 engine in the nose. A complete RC Airplane should weigh between 9 3/4 lbs. and 10 1/4 lbs dry.
My Hobby Store.com has plans for a .40 tractor engine radio control Mikoyan MiG-21. The RC Airplane has a wing span of 35 1/2". Bill Burkinshaw is the designer of the radio control airplane.
Green Air Design has a rc MiG-21 kit made out of Depron foam. The radio control airplane has a wing span of 18" and a length of 28". It can be powered by a 44 mm EDF or pusher prop. All up weight of the RC MiG-21 airplane is 12 oz.
The last picture below is of a Mikoyan RC MiG-21 airplane slope soarer built from plans. The RC Airplane has a wing span of 25" and is designed for aileron and elevator controls.
You can get the plans for the slope soarer MiG-21 radio control
airplane from Traplet Publications, publisher of Radio Control Jet
International magazine.
