The Junkers Ju 88 was used for more diverse missions than any other Luftwaff bomber of World War II. Seventeen versions were produced. These included medium bomber, dive bomber, torpedo bomber, night fighter and reconnaissance.

Junkers Ju 88 origins trace back to early 1936 when the Luftwaffe called for a fast twin engine bomber. Two U.S. employees of Junkers, hired for their knowledge of stressed skin construction, were the primary designers of the aircraft.

Junkers Ju 88 aircraft pilots appreciated the speed, toughness, and maneuverability of the aircraft.  During its initial trials, the aircraft set several speed records.

The Junkers Ju 88, upon its introduction, carried the largest payload and was the fastest of all Luftwaffe bomber aircraft.  However it did not do well in the Battle of Britain. Although armed with seven machine guns, these were just not sufficient to defend against British fighter aircraft.

A total of 14,676 Junkers Ju 88 aircraft of all types were produced.

Pictured above and immediately below is the nice looking 1/6 scale RC Junkers Ju 88 scratch built by Ty Brown. The radio control airplane has a wing span of 128". Ty uses Robart retracts to handle the landing gear of his Junkers Ju rc airplane. Powering the radio control airplane are two G-38 engines. All up weight of the RC Airplane is 45 lbs.

The second picture below is of another Junkers Ju 88 rc airplane. This RC Airplane was built by Remy Haines, Sr. from Cleveland Models plans. Unfortunately we do not have the specifications of this radio control airplane.

Cleveland Model has plans for Junkers Ju 88 RC Airplanes. The radio control airplanes have wing spans of 25.5", 34", 51", 68", 102", 136", and 204".

Precision Cut Kits will sell you the Don Smith Plans for a RC Junkers Ju 88. The radio control airplane has a wing span of 116" and a length of 85". If you want more than plans, Precision Cut Kits also has a short or full kit available of the RC Airplane.

The last picture below is of the Junkers Ju 88 rc airplane built from a Warbird Kits.com short kit by Dave Ottney. The radio control airplane has a 50" wing span and a length of 36". Construction of the rc Junkers Ju-88 is all balsa. The radio control airplane is propelled by two BP21 motors.

Dave reports that his rc Junkers Ju 88 radio control airplane flys very well. The RC airplane hand launches very easily and flight is straight and smooth. The motors of the Ju 88 RC Airplane provide more than adequate power. Flying is usually from 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. Loops and rolls with the radio control airplane, although not scale-like, are fun and easy to perform. Stall recovery for the Warbird Kits.com Junkers Ju 88 RC Airplane is easy when the elevator is neutralized and power is applied. Landings of the radio control airplane are accomplished with a bit of speed to keep the controls responsive. They are easily accomplished. The Junkers Ju 88 radio control airplane even handles gusts of wind up to about 15 mph with ease. All in all, this is a great radio control airplane!
