NOTE: RADIO CONTROL AIRPLANES ARE ON THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE PAGE.

The Grumman A-6 Intruder first took to the sky on April 19, 1960.  Deployment to fleet carriers took place in 1963.

Intruder aircraft were attack jets capable of flying all weather missions. They were used by all the U.S. military services except the Coast Guard.

The A-6 participated in virtually every military air action carried out by the United States, including Vietnam.

Intruders dropped more ordnance than B-52 heavy bombers during the Vietnam war.

Although not armed with cannons, an Intruder could carry up to 18,000 lbs. of ordnance externally, including bombs, missiles and rockets.

A total of 693 Grumman A-6 Intruder aircraft of all types were produced. They were retired from active duty in 1998.
