The Focke Wulf FW-190 is regarded as Germany's best World War II fighter aircraft.  The aircraft was a challenge to the most modern British warplanes. Although some could out turn the German aircraft, they could not match its overall speed and rate of climb.

The Focke Wulf FW-190 saw action as an interceptor, day fighter, night fighter, conventional bomber, and as a torpedo bomber.  They were constantly upgraded. Many Focke Wulf FW-190 aircraft were fitted with water methanol or nitrous oxide injection to improve the emergency war power performance of their radial engines.

In August of 1944, the Focke Wulf Fw-190 model D was introduced as a high altitude interceptor. The radial engine was replaced with a liquid cooled, inverted V engine. The forward fuselage of the model D was lengthened by about 48" in order to accommodate the engine.

Initial missions of the Focke Wulf FW-190 model D included providing air cover for jet aircraft over their air fields. The jet aircraft were especially vulnerable to interception during take offs and landings.

A total of over 20,000 Focke Wulf Fw-190 aircraft of all types were manufactured.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Focke Wulf FW-190 is one of the most modeled RC Airplanes. However, we notice that virtually every one is of the radial engine, shorter fuselage series, and not the model D. Perhaps manufacturers of RC Airplanes find the longer wings and shorter fuselages of the earlier series aircraft more pleasing to look at and/or they fly better than the longer nose "D" model radio control airplane.

Pictured above and immediately below is the RC Focke Wulf FW-190 built by Forest Morris from a Jack Devine kit. The radio control airplane has a wing span of 82" and a length of 70". Power for the Focke Wulf FW-190 rc airplane can come from a ST3250 or G38 engine. All up weight of the radio control airplane should be between 14 and 18 lbs.

Park Zone has a ready to fly RC Focke Wulf FW-190. Wing span of the radio control airplane is 39 1/2" and length is 33 1/2". The RC Airplane is powered by a 480 motor geared 3:1. The radio control airplane comes ready to fly with radio, motor, controller, servos and battery.

Will Hobby has a Focke Wulf FW-190 rc with a 71" wing span. The radio control airplane has a length of 59". You can use a .91 two stroke or 1.20 four stroke engine to pull the rc Focke Wulf FW-190. Upon completion the radio control airplane should weigh around 9 lbs.

Sure Flite has a foam Focke Wulf FW-190 rc airplane. The radio control airplane has a wing span of 50" and a length of 40". Recommended power for the RC Airplane is an AXI 2826/12 motor.

Airworld Modellbau has an all fiberglass rc Focke Wulf FW-190. In the second and third pictures below is the RC Airplane built by Dino di Girogio. Wing span of the radio control airplane is 102" and length is 88". Suggested power for the Focke Wulf FW-190 RC Airplane is a Moki S215 or Moki 90 engine. The Focke Wulf FW-190 radio control airplane should weigh about 33 lbs. when completed.

Please email us about your favorite Focke Wulf FW-190 rc. If you know of a rc Focke Wulf FW-190 radio control airplane RTF, ARF, kit or plan, we would like to hear about that too.
