F-15 Eagle aircraft, produced by Boeing, formerly McDonnell Douglas,  have scored over 100 combat victories without a single loss. They have accounted for 33 of the 35 fixed-wing enemy aircraft destroyed during Operation Desert Storm.

The first single seat F-15 Eagle flew on July 15, 1972 with the trainer following almost exactly one year later. In Nov. 1974 the model B became operational. It wasn't until January 1976 that the model A became operational.

In early 1979 the upgraded F15 Eagle C and D models entered service. Some of the upgrades included additional fuel capacity both internally and under wing. In 1985 the aircraft got an upgraded computer system that launched the latest missiles and provided improved threat warning.

In addition to the U.S., Israel, Japan, Saudi Arabia and South Korea all fly versions of the F-15 Eagle.

Pilots like the superior acceleration and high maneuverability of the F-15 Eagle.  A low wing loading and high thrust to weight ratio make it a highly maneuverable aircraft.

F-15 Eagle aircraft took part in Operation Desert Storm, patrolled the Iraq no-fly zone, supported NATO operations in Bosnia and have been playing a major role in the American occupation of Iraq.

On Nov. 2, 2007 the crash of a F-15 Eagle over Missouri, due to an air frame structural failure, prompted the grounding of all non-critical flights. Further inspections have cleared the F-15 Eagle E model for flight.

The Air Force has concluded that the air frame structure failure was due to defects during the manufacturing of the aircraft.  These defects have been found on all older F-15 Eagle models.  As of this writing the Air Force is inspecting all A-D aircraft individually before clearing them to fly again.

There are about 200 F-15 Eagle E models and about 685 other F-15 model aircraft in U.S. inventory.

F-15 Eagle model E "Strike Eagle":
The two seat F-15 Eagle model E "Strike Eagle" is crewed by a pilot and a weapons officer. It can carry up to 24,500 lbs. in external fuel, missiles and bombs.

The F-15 Eagle model E is a dual-role all-weather, day/night aircraft that can function equally well as a fighter and a bomber. Its missions may include strategic strike and interdiction.

F-15 Eagle model E aircraft are equipped with LANTIRN (Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night) systems.

They are equipped with the latest Hughes Aircraft Co. APG-70 radar. The radar provides information on the range, altitude, and airspeed of aircraft at ranges exceeding 100 miles.

The pilot and WSO of the F-15 Eagle  model E can monitor numerous displays. The majority of display functions are accessible by using controls that enable the pilot to keep his hands on the controls of the aircraft during demanding flying conditions.

The F-15 Eagle model E has 40% better acceleration than the C model due to updated digital engine systems. This can be of lifesaving value in maneuvers such as evading incoming missiles.

The F-15 Eagle model E flight control system allows the aircraft to fly at speeds ranging from just above stall to supersonic maximums while providing complete control.

Anyone who wants a RC F-15 Eagle airplane has plenty to choose from. There are giant scale radio control airplanes, smaller 40 size rc airplanes, ducted fan radio control airplanes, turbine powered RC Airplanes, and there is even a slope soarer radio control airplane.

Pictured above is the spectacular RC F-15 Eagle of Don Winn. It is from a Philip Avonds kit.

Philip Avonds has a total of three F-15 Eagle rc airplanes available. There is a ARF, and there are two radio control airplane kits.

The Philip Avonds RC F-15 Eagle ARF is made of all composites. The wing span of the radio control airplane is 58" and the length is 86". Recommended power for the rc airplane is from 18 -37 lb. thrust turbines.

Both Philip Avonds F-15 Eagle RC kits have 57" wing spans and lengths of 85". The RC Airplanes are built to take different amounts of thrust. One radio control airplane can handle 12 - 22 lb. thrust turbines and the other rc airplane 22 - 36 lb. thrust turbines.

The rc F-15 Eagle radio control airplanes in the two pictures immediately below are both from Philip Avonds. The RC Airplane in the first picture was built by Patrick De Mol. The radio control airplane in the second picture down is by Fredrich Reitz.

In the third picture below is Mark Hinton and his F-15 Eagle RC Airplane. The radio control airplane is an ARF from Skymaster. Wingspan of the rc airplane is 56", and its length is 81.5". Recommended power for the Skymaster radio control airplane is from 15-28 lb. thrust turbines.

JD Enterprises has a rc F-15 Eagle kit. The wing span of the radio control airplane is 42" with a length of 59". You may power the RC Airplane with .45 -.48 ducted fans or EDF's.

Scale RC Models has a F-15 Eagle RC kit for jet turbine or ducted fans at 86" length and 56" w/s.

You can find plans for a F-15 Eagle rc foam park flyer pusher with a 28" w/s at Parkjets.com.

Aerofoam has a 40" wing span rc F-15 Eagle radio control airplane slope soarer made out of EPP.

E-flite has a rc F-15 Eagle with a 36" wing span and 47" length.  The all foam radio control airplane comes as an ARF with all foam construction. Recommended power for the RC airplane comes from a pair of E-flite 420 DF motors driving the included ducted fan units.
