The Cirrus SR22 became the best selling recreational aircraft in 2002. It can fly at greater speeds and have more range than other aircraft of its type due to advanced aerodynamics.

Standard equipment on the SR22 is a 310 hp engine, global positioning system, autopilot, and a special recovery parachute.

A Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) is deployed by being pulled from the aircraft by a small rocket until the chute is clear of the aircraft.

Cirrus SR22 pilots report the aircraft as fun and easy to fly. There is ample interior room front and back. The glass cockpit multi function displays show minimal reflections, are clear, intuitive, and easy to use.

Rotation speed of the Cirrus SR22 is around 86 mph with three average size people, full fuel, and no luggage aboard. Pilots tell of a smooth ride, even in typical late summer day chop. The aircraft can easily and economically cruise at over 190 mph. If you are willing to sacrifice a little fuel economy, you can bump the cruising speed up to around 213 mph.

Cirrus SR22 aircraft are not rated for aerobatics, however quick maneuvering will be rewarded with solid tracking and instant response. Stalls are very predictable and gentle. The aircraft will settle down on the runway just as you would expect. Just keep the approach speed steady and settle in for a smooth landing.

Radio Control Airplanes:

Pictured above is the RC Cirrus SR22 built by Pat Backover. It has a 44” wing span and a length of 33.5”. Power comes from a MEGA 16/15/5 motor.

Nitro Planes has a rc Cirrus SR22 ARF for sale that uses engine or motor power.

The first picture below is a giant scale Cirrus SR22 radio control airplane from KMP Models. The ARF features a fiberglass fuselage. Wing span is 87.5”. The length is 68”. KMP recommends a 1.08 two stroke or a 1.20 to 1.50 four stroke engine. The completed rc airplane should weigh about 13 lbs.

The second picture below is of the Cirrus SR22 rc scratch built by Mike Allen. It is 42” long and has a wing span of 55”. Mike powers it with an O. S. .46 engine. All up weight is only 3.5 lbs.

The last picture on this page is of the rc Cirrus SR22 for sale by Ultrafly. Its wingspan is 52" and length is 34 1/2". The fuselage is made from fiberglass and the wings are balsa built-up. With the recommended F/18/10 motor, weight is about 2 3/4 lbs.

Have you built a rc Cirrus SR22 that you would like to tell us about?  If so, we would appreciate hearing from you at our email address.
