The Bell 214 series of helicopters are based on improvements to the original UH-1. Iran influenced the development of the helicopter for use in that country where it would often need to operate in high heat conditions. The major change from the base model was a much more powerful engine.

The Bell 214 model A set a number of records for its class. It became a mainstay helicopter for the Iranian Army.


Bell 214 model B water bombing.

The Bell 214 model B is the civil aviation version of the helicopter. It is visibly similar to the model A except for the addition of a window and door. In addition, the helicopter's avionics differed.  Bell 214 model B helicopters equipped with a 720 gallon belly tank are used as water bombers.

The Bell 214 model C was developed for the Iranian Air Force to fly search-and-rescue missions.

Over 440 Bell 214 helicopters of all types were built before production ended in 1981.

The S-S-M Technik Bell 214 fiberglass fuselage kit is 67" long, 20" high, and 14" wide. It can be powered by a benzin or turbine engine turning a 71" rotor.
