Beechcraft King Air aircraft (now Hawker Beechcraft) have been flying since the mid 1960's. There are more Beechcraft King Air aircraft sold than all other twin turboprop aircraft of their type.

Flying the Beechcraft King Air is like piloting a roomy mid-size jet. Should you lose an engine during takeoff, an automated system will feather the prop of the powerless engine and provide proper rudder compensation for the engine with remaining power.

Carl Lynnerup and his Beechcraft King Air.

Pictured above is Carl Lynnerup and his terrific 144" wingspan scratched built Beechcraft King Air. It weighs about 55 lbs. The turboprop engines of the Beechcraft King Air were built by Carl. They put out about 40 lbs. of thrust each.

The Beechcraft King Air features the latest all glass cockpit displays. Controls are logically laid out and easily accessed. Most systems have dual redundancy. There is an automated fuel distribution system.

The Beechcraft King Air of TeeboxII.

TeeboxII from RC Universe built the Beechcraft King Air shown above. It has a 90" wingspan, weighs around 23 lbs. and is powered by O.S. 70 two stroke engines.

While the heavier forces needed to control the Beechcraft King Air reflect the larger size of the aircraft, they are well coordinated, smooth, and responsive. Engine power is sufficient so that a fully loaded aircraft can easily climb at 2,000 fpm. Best economy cruising is at about 28,000 feet and 345 mph. The winglets become more effective at higher altitudes.

The Beechcraft King Air by Rodger.

The Beechcraft King Air built by W747 aka Rodger of RC Universe has a 74" wingspan. We do not know its length, weight, or the type of power used. If you do, we would appreciate hearing from you.

The large passenger cabin of the Beechcraft King Air is jet like quiet due to the distance of the motors and propellers from it. A noise reduction system uses sound absorbing materials to prevent the fuselage structure from amplifying engine noise. A low 1,500 rpm propeller rotation at cruise speeds also keeps noise levels and vibrations down.

Beechcraft King Air project by Mike James.

The 109" wingspan Beechcraft King Air project by Mike James appears to never have been completed.

An improved air conditioning system keeps the crew and passengers comfortable while on the tarmac on the warmest of days. Fourteen large tinted cabin windows give the Beechcraft King Air cabin an airy feel and provide a great outside view. Cabin seats are large and comfortable, with diffused lighting above, individual reading lights, and individual storage chests.

Adam Santana's Beechcraft King Air project.

The Beechcraft King Air project by Adam Santana will be turboprop powered with a wingspan of 150" and a length of 103". You can find the post about it from Mario Javarez 14 of RC Universe.

Beechcraft King Air aircraft are used as airliners, by private pilots, as corporate transports, by various police departments, by all branches of the United States armed forces except the Coast Guard, and the military of numerous countries around the world.

A total of over 6,650 Beechcraft King Air aircraft of all types have been manufactured to date.
