The Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit stealth bomber is the world's most expensive aircraft. When total development costs are added in to the price of the aircraft, the sum is $2.2 billion 1998 US dollars.
In addition to Northrop and Grumman, Boeing, Hughes, General Electric and Vought have all contributed to the engineering, development and production of the B-2 Spirit. A total of 21 B-2 aircraft have been produced to date.
The B-2 Spirit can carry both conventional and nuclear weapons in the form of gravity bombs, smart bombs, and missiles.
The profile of the B-2 Spirit aircraft together with composite laminate and radar absorbing paints give it stealth characteristics and, according to the U.S.A.F., make it the most survivable aircraft in the world.
The original concept of the B-2 Spirit was that of a stealth, high altitude bomber. However, lessons learned from Boeing B-52's and their vulnerability at high altitudes to SAM's eventually changed the mission of the B-2 to include low altitude penetration.
To date B-2 Spirit aircraft have successfully flown missions over Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.

RC Airplane by Kevin Cirolo.
Radio Control Airplanes:
Pictured above is the scratch built B-2 Spirit RC Airplane by Kevin Cirolo. The radio control airplane has a wing span of 72.5" and is constructed from foam. Kevin powers his RC airplane with two Mega 16/7/4 motors driving 66 mm Alfa fan units. Kevin tells us the flight of his B-2 Spirit radio control airplane is very scale-like and that his RC airplane looks extremely realistic when in the sky.
The first picture below is of the two channel B-2 Spirit radio control airplane sold by Air Rage. It is representative of numerous ARF RC airplanes, all with variable thrust control to the motors, and no direct altitude control, save adding or lessening power. Wing spans of these radio control airplanes are around 28".
If you are interested in this type of B-2 Spirit RC Airplane, be aware that prices vary greatly for the same radio control airplane model at different retailers. It is wise to shop around for the best price for your two channel RC Airplane.
The second picture below is of the 65" wing span B-2 Spirit radio control airplane by Global-Anthem. Power for the RC airplane comes from twin 380 motors driving EDF's.
Global-Anthem recommends brushless motors to deliver more performance and longer flight times for their B-2 Spirit radio control airplane.
Future Shop has a B-2 Spirit RC Airplane with a 48" wing span for twin EDF power.
Air-Tech has a 40" wing span B-2 Spirit radio control airplane made of EPP foam. The RC Airplane is EDF propelled.
There is a 48" wing span B-2 Spirit radio control airplane from Mega Tech. Power for the RC Airplane comes from a single pusher prop.
GWS sells a 35" wing span B-2 Spirit park flyer radio control airplane with twin EDF motors for windless days or indoor flying.
If there is a quality B-2 Spirit RC Airplane that you can recommend, or if you know of a B-2 Spirit radio control airplane kit, plans, or ARF, please email us about it.
